Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to ensure peak operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems within a data center. You will lead maintenance, incident response, and vendor coordination to maintain uptime for AWS infrastructure.

This role requires travel between data center locations, occasional off-hours work, and strong collaboration with IT and facilities teams to drive safety, reliability, and efficiency across the facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and collaborate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineering operations and vendors.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside of normal hours for routine maintenance and emergencies as needed.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety, performance, and efficiency.
