Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety maintenance and to ensure peak efficiency of Amazon Web Services' data center infrastructure.

You will manage preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response while serving as the primary technical resource for Engineering Operations Technicians and third‑party vendors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee operation of critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLAs.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineers and vendor teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for maintenance and on-call emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate with IT managers to optimize safety, performance and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Establish performance benchmarks and prepare maintenance reports.
• Utilize MS Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks.
