Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems across our Texas data centers.

You will own preventative maintenance, coordinate emergency responses, and serve as the technical resource for on-site Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors. This role requires strong leadership, travel between sites, and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee maintenance of critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to shape team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for maintenance and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate with IT managers to optimize plant safety, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and produce maintenance reports.
