Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead BMS and EPMS design, specification, and implementation for data center retrofit projects. You will bridge mechanical/electrical retrofit design with controls integration, ensuring upgraded systems are monitored, controlled, and optimized across the fleet.

The role requires 4+ years in mission-critical facilities and a strong background in HVAC, electrical distribution, and control programming.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (data centers, power generation, etc.)
• 2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
• 2+ years of experience with HVAC systems, control concepts, low voltage systems, and power distribution diagrams

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design and integration for mechanical and electrical retrofit projects across the data center fleet
• Develop and maintain controls design standards, specs and SOWs for retrofit projects
• Collaborate with FRE engineers, construction teams, commissioning and operations to deliver integrated controls solutions
• Serve as the central technical authority for BMS/EPMS controls within FRE
• Perform controls design reviews and identify optimization opportunities
• Coordinate with vendors and programmers on bid reviews and code reviews
• Develop control sequences, diagrams, point lists and network architectures for retrofit applications
• Interact with AWS cloud services and data analytics platforms for reporting and optimization
• Anticipate roadblocks and provide escalation management to protect timelines
• Travel domestically and internationally to support retrofit projects
• Provide engineering judgment for legacy systems with limited documentation
