Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead the electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems across a high‑availability data center.

You will oversee preventative maintenance, respond to incidents, and coordinate with Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors to keep critical infrastructure running at peak performance. Based in our TX site, this role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities issues and oversee critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLA.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for teams and vendor support.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for maintenance and emergency response.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT and business leaders to optimize safety and efficiency.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and Amazon staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and report on operations and maintenance.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other basic administrative tools.
