Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety maintenance across a data center.

You will manage on-site operations, coordinate with Engineering Operations Technicians, and serve as the main technical resource for facility reliability. You will implement standard practices, oversee safety protocols with vendors, plan drills, and collaborate with IT and building managers to optimize capacity, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues
• Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors
• May assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase efficiency
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and emergencies
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety and efficiency
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and Amazon staff
• Establish benchmarks, analyses, and reports on facility operations and maintenance
• Lead site fire protection initiatives and serve as SME for fire safety
• Establish and maintain site-wide fire safety standards and drills
