Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Hamlet, NC seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead the electrical, mechanical and fire/safety systems across our data center campus.

You will manage preventative maintenance, daily operations, and emergency response, while acting as the sole focal point for facility operations with the Engineering Operations Technicians and third-party vendors. You will drive safety, reliability, and efficiency, collaborating with IT managers to optimize capacity and performance,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee operation of critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLA and guide corrective actions.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve current facility efficiency.
• Work outside of normal hours for routine maintenance and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers to optimize safety, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and Amazon staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare maintenance reports.
