Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Hamlet, NC is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems and drive preventative maintenance across the data center.

You'll act as the primary technical resource for Engineering Operations Technicians and third-party vendors, coordinating with IT and facilities teams to ensure safety, reliability, and cost-effective operation at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues.
• Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• May assist in building out new facilities and assist in projects to increase current facility efficiency.
• Work outside of normal business hours for routine maintenance as required, including emergency calls.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers to manage capacity and optimize plant safety and reliability.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks, analyses, and reports on operations and maintenance.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other basic admin tools for day-to-day tasks.
