Job summary

VEG is seeking Veterinary nursing Shift Leads to coordinate shift flow, ensure top-tier care, and empower VEGgies on busy ER floors in Washington, DC. You will guide teams through huddles, rounds, and floor coaching, keeping a big-picture view and stepping in as needed.

The role requires a credentialed veterinary technician or enrollment in VEG's credentialing program, with 1+ year of experience in a veterinary role, especially in emergency settings.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) or enrolled in VEG Credentialing Support Program preferred.
• 1+ years of experience as veterinary technician or assistant; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot when unexpected events occur.
• Assign and adapt shift roles with clarity and care.
• Assist on the floor when needed; no task is too small.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly and elevate key issues to leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning time and growth opportunities.

Skills
