Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support aseptic technique, assist in the OR setup, and help with patient preparation and room turnover. The role requires collaboration with the Registered Nurse circulator and adherence to department policies.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of operating room experience, BLS, and surgical technology training, with NBSTSA/NCCT certification preferred. This position supports patient safety and perioperative efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent military training.
• 2 years of operating room experience in surgical technologist role required.
• Current certification preferred through NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Meets all ST II qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.

Responsibilities

• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after surgical procedure.
• Assists RN circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment and proper disposition of specimens; assists with room turnover.
• Monitors sterilization activities for completion and ensures supplies are used judiciously; charges documented/submitted accurately.
• Attends in-services/staff meetings and participates in Performance Improvement Process.
• May serve as preceptor and clinical resource to others.
