Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced OR nurse to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical procedures. You will perform scrub and circulating functions, assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, and prepare the OR with instruments and equipment.

This role requires AL RN licensure and BLS/ACLS timing compliance. The position supports a 6am–3pm schedule, Monday–Friday, with rotating call for weekdays, weekends, and holidays, within the CVOR department.

Qualifications

• Must hold BLS Provider within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Life Support within 180 days of hire.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse (AL Board of Nursing).

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub: select and handle instruments and supplies used during procedures.
• Perform circulating: monitor, record, and communicate patient condition; manage overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Directly assist physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
