Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures at UAB St. Vincent’s East.

The role includes scrub and circulating duties, direct assistance to the surgeon, and preparing ORs and instruments to ensure safe, efficient operations. Qualifications include a Nursing Diploma and Alabama RN licensure, with BLS within 30 days and ACLS within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS/Advanced Life Support certification within 180 days of hire.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions: instrument and supply handling for procedures.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor and communicate patient condition, manage overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Directly assist the operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
