Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to deliver professional care in the operative setting for surgical patients. The role includes scrub and circulating duties, assisting the surgeon, and ensuring rooms and equipment are prepared for procedures.

Eligible candidates must hold a Diploma from an accredited nursing program, Alabama licensure, and BLS; ALS is also required within specified timeframes. UAB Medicine offers comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and professional licensure at time of hire.
• Current licensure with Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Advanced Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical patients.
• Perform scrub functions: instrument and supply handling for procedures.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor patient condition, document, and communicate.
• Directly assist the surgeon with hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and equipment for use.
