Job summary

GIFFORDS Center for Violence Intervention invites applicants for a two-year Fellowship as Coalition Manager to strengthen statewide CVI coalitions, expand a national peer network, and support new coalitions in priority states. The role emphasizes relationship building, project management, and trauma-informed communication in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

The Fellow reports to the Associate Director of Coalitions and collaborates with policy leaders to grow SCCA and provide resources,

Qualifications

  • Commitment to community violence intervention or gun violence prevention.
  • Experience leading campaigns via coalition work or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Track record of policy synthesis in CVI or related fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for policy audiences.
  • Ability to work in fast-moving, relational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support SCCA member development and engagement through needs assessments, outreach, site visits, onboarding, training, technical assistance, peer learning, one-on-one meetings, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Support SCCA infrastructure and member resources, including maintaining a national repository and developing model policies, training materials, webinars, strategic planning tools, coalition updates, and other field resources.
  • Plan and support SCCA convenings and cross-state coordination, including monthly virtual meetings, the annual in-person gathering, peer learning, cross-state advocacy efforts, and member communications.
  • Support the development of new statewide CVI coalitions in priority states, including stakeholder mapping, relationship-building, governance development, recruitment, and facilitation of early convenings.
  • Support state and federal CVI advocacy efforts by preparing talking points, fact sheets, sign-on campaigns, legislative monitoring reports, model policies, advocacy days, and other policy resources.
  • Help develop and administer the CVI Coalition Support Fund, including establishing funding criteria, managing applications and review processes, tracking awards, and monitoring grantee progress and capacity-building activities.
  • Help establish and support a Frontline Worker Advisory Committee that brings frontline workers, people with lived experience, and survivors into SCCA policy and coalition strategy through regular convenings, policy review, and input opportunities.
  • Serve as a thought partner and resource to coalition leaders, connecting members to GCVI expertise and peer networks while tracking emerging CVI policy, funding, and field trends.
  • Support the broader GCVI team with research, event coordination, data tracking, coalition programming, and other duties as assigned.
