Job summary

Michigan Immigrant Justice Coalition (MIJC) is seeking a contracted Coalition Coordinator to help coordinate coalition meetings, align partner efforts, and move campaigns forward across statewide immigrant justice issues.

You will work with the steering committee to facilitate decision-making, manage projects, collect data for reporting, and provide written updates. This mostly remote role may include occasional in-person events and scheduling support to keep activities on track.

Qualifications

  • Experience in coalition building and community organizing.
  • Track record moving groups from planning to measurable outcomes.
  • Commitment to civil and human rights and immigration justice.
  • Effective virtual and in-person communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate, identify opportunities, and move collaboration forward.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate steering committee meetings, set agendas, mobilize members and monitor progress.
  • Provide scheduling, virtual/in-person event support, reminders and logistics.
  • Provide project leadership to ensure effective coalition decision-making.
  • Develop work plans with working groups and set timelines.
  • Assign tasks and hold coalition members accountable.
  • Coordinate with partners between meetings; call, email and share documents.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities across groups.
  • Spot opportunities/obstacles and support strategic problem-solving.
  • Provide follow-up to partners and ensure commitments are fulfilled.
  • Coordinate cross-training and knowledge sharing.
  • Record and maintain notes and documentation of meetings.
  • Convene regular meetings and provide reports to leadership.
  • Compile data and prepare regular coalition reports for grants.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
