Job summary

Dollar General seeks an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store and support the Store Manager in supervising staff and merchandising. You’ll handle deposits, cash handling, and loss prevention while ensuring the store meets standards.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, planogram compliance, and maintaining inventory accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The role offers growth within a nationwide retailer and requires strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow company processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking and displaying.
• Maintain inventory accuracy; control damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist with planograms and ensure merchandising conforms to standards.
• Ensure cashier accountability, cash controls, and deposits; assist with refunds and overrides.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
