Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker in Knoxville, TN to deliver outstanding service and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will greet customers, process transactions, and use the POS system while following company policies on cash handling, loyalty offers, and restricted items.

Responsibilities include communicating with customers, assisting with product questions, and upholding food safety and loss-prevention procedures in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with questions in a friendly, helpful manner.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, cards, and coupons per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and prevent loss through theft or errors.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay updated on current ads and promotions.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; assist in repairs as needed.
• Create an inviting environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Follow all laws and company guidelines; work well under pressure.
• Collaborate effectively with teammates and manage conflicts professionally.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
