Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in the United States is seeking a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience by greeting customers, processing transactions quickly, and maintaining a clean environment.

You will work with the POS system, handle cash, checks, and card payments, and follow policies on restricted items while participating in safety and loss-prevention procedures in a fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greeting, engaging and assisting customers in a visible manner.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, and loyalty offers per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention procedures.
• Comply with guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Maintain awareness of ads and promotions; ensure food safety regulations are followed.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions or incidents to management.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and report needed repairs.
• Create an welcoming environment by answering product questions.
