Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Liquid Systems Responsible Engineer with cryogenic fluids experience to support hardware ownership and manufacturing engineering for cryogenic propellant management components within the Zero-g Propellant Management IPT.

You will split time between hardware support (requirements, design reviews, supplier coordination, verification) and manufacturing engineering (DFM/DFA input, process documentation, shop floor troubleshooting, non-conformance support), under guidance

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Physics, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems or manufacturing/process engineering.
  • Experience with aerospace systems for flight development or certification.
  • Hands-on with fluid/gas components: valves, manifolds, regulators, instrumentation.
  • Ability to translate engineering requirements into manufacturable processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support hardware ownership of cryogenic propellant management components.
  • Work on defined subsystems within the Zero-g Propellant Management IPT.
  • Support trade studies, component design/integration, and first-order analysis.
  • Track internal and external procurements and hardware dependencies to support schedules.
  • Participate in internal/external technical exchange meetings on cryogenic hardware development.
  • Support DFM/DFA/DFT reviews; flag manufacturability concerns during design phases.
  • Translate engineering requirements into manufacturing processes for cryogenic fluid hardware.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation: work instructions, flow diagrams, tool designs, inspection plans.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action for manufacturing non-conformances; contribute to MRB dispositions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods relevant to cryogenic fluid systems and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation activities for new production tooling/lines.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes align with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to identify efficiency and cost reductions.
