Job summary

Public Safety Dispatch Network in Crater Lake, OR seeks 911 Call Takers to listen, assess, and record critical information from callers. You may work in centers that handle call-taking and dispatch functions.

This role requires strong listening, accurate typing, clear verbal communication, and the ability to follow structured procedures; training and certification are provided. Shifts may include nights, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is commonly required.
• Experience in customer service or call-taking is helpful but not always required.
• Ability to follow structured procedures and guidance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller details.
• Input information into call-processing or dispatch software.
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function.
• Provide authorized pre-arrival instructions only after training/certification.
• Protect caller privacy and confidential incident information.
• Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Follow language-access and accessibility resources when needed.
