Job summary

YWCA York is seeking a Part Time Resident/Crisis Response Advocate in York, PA to operate the Emergency Shelter facility when on duty. You will provide trauma-informed support, present options to residents, and help ensure safety during shifts.

Starting wage is $16.00 per hour. This role requires high school diploma and completion of advocate training within 90 days. Weekend and holiday shifts are included as needed.

Qualifications

• Trauma-informed approach to resident support.
• Strong decision‑making and teamwork with staff.
• Ability to supervise and cooperate with others.

Responsibilities

• Ensure building security and occupant wellbeing while on duty.
• Conduct intakes, answer hotline, and hospital accompaniments when needed.
• Provide referrals and oversee shelter residents; enforce shelter rules.
• Participate in house, staff and direct service meetings; assist with planning and supplies.
• Lift/move materials up to 25 pounds; keep spaces clean and organized.
• Maintain confidentiality of client materials and files.
