Job summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay in Tampa, FL is seeking an Intervention Specialist Intern for the Gateway program. This internship provides crisis counseling, information and referrals, and coordinated follow-up care for victims of crime and trauma.

You will engage in de-escalation, safety planning, motivational interviewing, and documentation, with training and supervision provided; flexible part-time schedule; bilingual Spanish preferred and commitment to confidentiality and mandated reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a human service-related field or equivalent experience.
• 1 year counseling or crisis intervention experience preferred.
• Active student status in a participating college/university desired.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis counseling and information/referral services via telephone, chat and in person.
• Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and connection to follow-up care.
• Advocate for and refer primary/secondary victims of crime, including trauma survivors.
• Maintain confidential documentation and comply with HIPAA and reporting requirements.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and PQI processes.
