Potbelly Sandwich Works is hiring for a guest-focused Associate to deliver fast, friendly service in a bustling environment. You’ll ensure a high-quality, fresh product and a welcoming setting for every guest.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and strong communication, with duties ranging from food prep and station coverage to cash handling and customer issue resolution. Eligible applicants must be 16+, and a positive, energetic attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to stand/walk for 3 hours or more and lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois applicants: must become food safety certified within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.).
• If 18 or older, use of the automatic slicer to prep food items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints/issues.
• Takes delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone.
• Other duties as assigned.
