Job summary

Credit Union is seeking a versatile Member Service Representative to support Branch Operations, Lending and back office departments. You will open new accounts, assist loan processing and funding, and handle delinquent accounts with the collections team, while delivering high-quality member service.

Responsibilities include processing loan changes, cross-selling products including debt protection, and providing administrative support to Loan Officers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of one-year Member Service Representative, two-year collection experience, two-year Member Service Officer, or combined related experience of 5 years within a financial institution.
• Proficient in Windows, Word, Excel, and Internet.
• Familiar with the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and other regulatory requirements.
• Familiar with basic bankruptcy concepts, including chapter 7 & 13 codes.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Working knowledge of Credit Union lending insurance products.
• Thorough knowledge of lending policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of compliance issues relating to Real Estate/ Consumer lending, Collections, Bankruptcies.

Responsibilities

• To open all new accounts related to product and services of the Credit Union.
• Perform all of the normal duties of a credit union member service representative.
• Perform loan advances up to approval amount with appropriate file maintenance of loan payments, due date, and payroll deduction information, and accurately quote loan payoffs.
• Complete understanding of all new account disclosures.
• Ability to balance, service, maintain, and troubleshoot ATM machines.
• Ability to perform all transactions regarding direct deposit and payroll.
• Ability to cross-sell all loan products.
• Ensure that collateral loans are audited on a timely basis and given to DMV clerk.
• Assist the Collectors with calls on Delinquent Accounts.
• Proactively interacts with members and dealers to perfect security interest in collateral.
• Proactively ensures completion of the DMV portion of the consumer loan files.
• Process loan changes, adjustments and corrections.
• Audits all loan work for accuracy and compliance to Credit Union policies.
• Effectively answers member and staff phone inquiries.
• Recommends/assists accounts eligible for deferments/loan workouts.
• Enters collection notes in system for all accounts.
• Reviews and provides timely funding within credit union standards and guidelines.
• Provides administrative assistance to the Loan Officers and staff, including loading loan data in the credit union’s core system.
• Cross-sells all credit union products and services with emphasis on GAP and Debt Protection.
• Reviews and gather necessary documentation to fund any consumer loan application, pre-approvals, Indirect lending documentation if needed.
• Reviews loan prior to funding to ensure it meets credit score approved guidelines.
• Audits all loan work for accuracy and compliance to Credit Union policies.
• Backup/support for other positions as assigned by EVP/CFO or department manager.
• Performs additional miscellaneous duties as assigned by EVP/CFO or department manager.
• Assist back-office department with time sensitive task.
