Job summary

The Michaels Companies, Inc. in Alexandria, VA is seeking an energetic Event Coordinator to plan and execute in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.

You will provide friendly customer service, assist customers with shopping, and promote rewards programs while coordinating with store teams. Ideal candidates will have experience with children’s events, strong communication and organizational skills, and prior retail or customer service work.

Qualifications

• Experience planning and coordinating events (children’s parties, craft classes)
• Strong customer service mindset with ability to guide shoppers
• Excellent people skills and ability to engage guests of all ages
• Clear communication and ability to handle inquiries and enroll Rewards/Private Label Credit Cards
• Organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and events
• Experience working with children and children’s events is preferred
• Retail or customer service experience is required

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events in-store, including children’s birthday parties and crafts.
• Engage with customers of all ages and assist with product selection and checkout.
• Promote and enroll customers in Michaels Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards.
• Handle emails, calls, and paperwork; communicate event details to store team.
• Create backup plans for events and maintain store cleanliness and safety during activities.
• Support omni-channel processes (BOPIS, SFS) and complete stock/planogram duties.
