Job summary

The Michaels Companies, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking an energetic Event Coordinator to plan and execute in-store events, including kids' birthday parties, while delivering friendly customer service and a smooth checkout experience.

You will engage customers of all ages, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store, support store operations, and help maintain safety and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Must have excellent people skills.
• Must have experience working with children and children's events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards.
