Job summary

Copain Bakery & Provisions Winston Salem is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to support our prepared foods program. You will execute daily menus, prepare, cook and portion items, and help keep the kitchen organized and safe for high quality servings.

You will work closely with the Chef and production team, follow recipes, practice food safety, and contribute to consistent flavor and portion standards across Copain retail offerings.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook or line cook experience in a scratch kitchen preferred.
• Strong knife skills and comfort working with volume prep and batch cooking.
• Ability to follow recipes and written prep lists with close attention to detail.
• Good habits around cleanliness, organization and food safety.
• Culinary driven with passion for food and reliable to show up each shift ready to take on the day.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily prepared meal menus and recipes that are developed by the Chef for Copain retail.
• Prepare, cook and portion hot and cold items for grab and go and retail service.
• Execute specialty menus and holiday menus while following all recipes and production standards to maintain consistency in flavor, texture and presentation.
• Assist with rotation of product using first in first out practices and label, date and store all products safely according to food safety guidelines.
• Help with daily and weekly inventory counts for prepared foods and ingredients.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, reach in coolers and storage areas.
• Communicate any product quality or par level concerns to the Chef in a timely way.
