Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is hiring a Human Services Technician (CPS FBSS Unit HST I) in Houston. The role supports CPS families with transportation, supervised visits, and clerical tasks, collaborating with staff and external partners to ensure services are delivered efficiently.

This position requires frequent travel (up to 75%) and a high school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant clerical or social services experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year full-time social services, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, general office, or FPS experience.
• Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation for clients to appointments as directed by caseworkers.
• Observe or supervise parent and child visits.
• Complete forms and documentation for client contacts; data entry into IMPACT and agency systems.
• Maintain outgoing paper/electronic appointment calendar for scheduling requests.
• Perform clerical duties (typing, filing, faxing, copying, calls) and support unit operations.
• Promote respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and contacts.
• Attend work regularly per agency leave policy.
