Job summary

Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. in Waterloo, IA is seeking a knowledge-based Counter Sales Associate to act as a trusted advisor for plumbing and HVAC contractor customers.

You will leverage product knowledge to help customers make informed purchases and support sales strategies at the counter, on the phone, and via email. Starting wage ranges from $25/hr with experience; schedule is Monday–Friday between 6am and 4pm, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in customer service or sales.
• Experience in plumbing/HVAC or related industry preferred.
• Strong consultative selling and relationship-building abilities.
• Digital literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers proactively at the counter, on the phone, and via email to understand needs and recommend solutions.
• Serve as a product expert by learning plumbing and HVAC products to guide decisions.
• Drive sales growth by upselling and promoting strategic products and programs.
• Process transactions accurately and provide a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales to support account growth and service delivery.
• Assist with inventory management and stock organization.
