Job summary

Ferguson is seeking a knowledgeable Counter Sales Associate to advise plumbing and HVAC contractor customers, leveraging product expertise to help them make informed purchasing decisions. The role focuses on building relationships, driving sales, and delivering exceptional service at a fast-paced counter environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in customer service or sales; plumbing/HVAC knowledge preferred.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Able to learn new systems quickly and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers at the counter, by phone, and via email to understand needs.
• Act as product expert on plumbing/HVAC to guide decisions.
• Upsell and cross-sell to drive sales.
• Use catalogs/computers and databases to locate parts with accuracy.
• Process transactions efficiently while ensuring a positive experience.
• Support Outside Sales to grow accounts and provide seamless service.
• Manage special orders, back-orders, and delivery timelines.
