Taconic Rehabilitation & Nursing at Beacon in Beacon, NY is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will provide therapeutic interventions to help residents improve function, independence, and quality of life.

Qualifications

• AAS degree from OTA program approved by AOTA.
• Valid New York State COTA license.
• Newly licensed COTAs welcome to apply.
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, therapists, and interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Implement occupational therapy treatment programs under supervision of an OT.
• Assist with resident assessments and contribute to treatment planning within COTA scope.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve functional abilities, ADLs, mobility, strength, and independence.
• Monitor resident progress and communicate findings to supervising OT.
• Complete documentation, care plans, billing, and clinical records accurately and timely.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy techniques and home exercise programs.
• Train and support rehabilitation aides as assigned.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement occupational therapy treatment programs under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist

• Provide therapeutic interventions focused on improving functional abilities, ADLs, mobility, strength, and independence
• Monitor resident progress and communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Complete documentation, care plans, billing, and clinical records accurately and timely
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs
• Train and support rehabilitation aides as assigned
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure residents receive prescribed therapy services and treatment minutes
• Perform additional duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate of Applied Science Degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Valid New York State Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) License required
• Newly licensed COTAs welcome to apply
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
