Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Beacon is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join its rehabilitation team in Beacon, NY. You will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions that help residents improve function, maintain independence, and achieve their highest level of performance.

Qualifications

• AS degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the AOTA.
• New York State COTA license required.
• Newly licensed COTAs welcome to apply.
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement occupational therapy treatment programs under supervision of an OT.
• Assist with resident assessments and contribute to treatment planning within COTA scope.
• Provide interventions to improve ADLs, mobility, strength and independence.
• Monitor resident progress and report findings to supervising OT.
• Complete documentation, care plans, billing, and clinical records accurately and timely.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs.
• Train and support rehabilitation aides as assigned.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure residents receive prescribed therapy services and treatment minutes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Associate of Applied Science Degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Valid New York State Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) License required
• Newly licensed COTAs welcome to apply
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care
