Job summary

UPMC is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler for the Cosmetic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery office in Erie, PA. You will coordinate and schedule patients for surgical procedures and assist the surgeon and administrator in promoting and monitoring operations.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. Prior medical field experience and Epic scheduling experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a medical assisting program or 2-4 years of medical field experience.
• Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
• Epic practice management program knowledge preferred.
• Strong organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgeon and administrator in operations.
• Coordinate patient follow-up and pre-op planning.
• Handle pre-certifications/referrals.
• Coordinate and discuss financial arrangements including pre-payments.
• Ensure informed consents are signed.
• Provide patients with pre/postoperative instructions.
• Coordinate patient education and seminars.
