Job summary

Gateway Foundation is seeking a kitchen cook to support corrections-based food service. You will clean and organize areas, assist in menu planning, prepare and serve meals, and supervise client kitchen assistants to maintain sanitation and efficiency.

The role requires a HS Diploma or GED, 6 months of related experience, and an ANSI or Texas Food Handler certification. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work from a team are essential for this demanding environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience in a similar role.
• Completion of ANSI or Texas Food Handler certification.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients and treatment team.
• General knowledge of cooking and food preparation methods.
• Ability to organize and coordinate tasks in a kitchen.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and organizes work and serving areas and maintains kitchen equipment.
• Assists in menu planning and training of clients assigned to kitchen.
• Prepares, seasons, cooks, and serves food; carve portions for individual servings.
• Supervises client kitchen assistants and maintains sanitary facilities.
• Estimates food needs according to menus and production sheets; logs requisitions.
• Adheres to meal schedules and ensures timely preparation of items.
• Maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
