Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a Food Service Supervisor to lead inmate kitchen staff, oversee daily operations, and ensure safe, compliant meal preparation and delivery. You will supervise cooks, bakers, and dining staff, coordinate with inmate committees, and uphold health and safety standards.

Preferred candidates have supervisory experience, proven cooking skills, and a ServSafe certification or plan to obtain it within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• Must be ServSafe manager certified or obtain within 6 months.
• Must complete basic supervisory courses within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates all inmate Food Service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Acts as officer maintaining internal security of cafeteria.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Responsible for accurate preparation of all food orders weekly and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu; maintains records for 5 years.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
