Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to oversee inmate kitchen staff, ensure meals meet quality and safety standards, and coordinate with a representative committee to address issues. You will train cooks and dining staff and enforce procedures per SCDC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Must be ServSafe manager certification or obtain within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by South Carolina department of corrections training academy or must complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen (18) months of employment.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instruct all employees in duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares food orders weekly and ensures accurate deliveries.
• Prepares cook's work sheet per SCDC master menu and maintains records for 5 years.
• Meets health, fire & OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair on cafeteria equipment.
• Must complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training on hire.
