Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to oversee interviews, hires, evaluates, and terminates all civilian and inmate staff in the cafeteria setting. The role directs food preparation, service, equipment maintenance, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities include supervising and counseling employees, training on proper cooking techniques to maximize palatability with minimal waste, and coordinating inspections with health, fire, and OSHA

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in food service.
• Experience managing large teams in a cafeteria setting.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates, and terminates all civilian and inmate food service employees.
• Organize, plan, and direct these purchases, preparation and service of food and the maintenance of food service equipment and facilities.
• Make frequent inspections to ensure that standards are maintained.
• Supervise, instruct, and counsel employees.
• Coordinates and teaches correct techniques of food preparation for maximum palatability and appearance with minimum waste.
• Purposes, meet with health, fire, & OSHA inspections.
• Responsible for ensuring that all required maintenance/repair work is performed on cafeteria equipment.
• Supervises all personnel in the performance of their daily duties.
• Prepares cook's worksheet in strict accordance with SCDC master menu and maintains records for a 5-year period.
• Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
