Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to lead the state cafeteria team. You will interview and manage staff, plan purchases, supervise food preparation, and ensure compliance with health, safety and OSHA standards.

You will also coordinate training and oversee equipment maintenance in a correctional facility. The role requires a high school diploma with several years of cooking and supervisory experience, plus HACCP or SERV Safe certification or the intent

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; five years’ cooking experience and one year supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be HACCP and/or SERV Safe manager certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by SC Department of Corrections training academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen months; three years’ experience in a correctional environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates food service employees.
• Plan and direct the purchases, preparation, service of food and the maintenance of food service equipment and facilities.
• Make frequent inspections to ensure that standards are maintained.
• Supervise, instruct, and counsel employees.
• Coordinate and teach correct food preparation techniques for palatability and minimal waste.
• Meet health, fire, and OSHA inspections and ensure maintenance/repairs on cafeteria equipment.
• Supervise all personnel in daily duties.
• Prepare cooks' worksheets per SCDC master menu and maintain records.
