Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a capable security supervisor to oversee the security staff and inmate custody in a Medium/Maximum security facility. You will plan, coordinate, and direct daily security operations under general supervision, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and building safety protocols.

The role requires completing eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training after hire, and possessing a high school diploma with relevant experience; a related degree may substitute for experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with relevant experience in correctional/security/mederal/molice work.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for required experience.
• Must be certified by SCDC training academy and complete basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct security staff and oversee security, custody, and control of inmates in a Medium/Maximum security facility.
• Make routine unit checks to ensure duties are performed properly and OSHA standards are maintained.
• Assist with all inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigate complaints and violations; arbitrate disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
