The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Security Supervisor to plan, coordinate and direct the actions of the security staff and oversee custody and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium/maximum security facility.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and three years of experience in correctional, security, military or police work, with one year of supervisory experience.

Competenze

• High school diploma and relevant experience.
• Three years of correctional/security/military/police work, including one year in a supervisory role.
• A degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience; must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Mansioni

• Plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium/maximum security facility.
• Assumes primary responsibility for security for all buildings and public property.
• Performs routine unit checks to ensure staff are performing duties properly, safety standards, cleanliness and OSHA compliance.
• Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
