Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a qualified Physician for a 1099 contractor role at a Newark, New Jersey facility.

The physician will serve as the first point of contact for detainees, diagnose a wide range of illnesses, and oversee overall patient care in partnership with medical staff. Responsibilities include direct patient care, coordinating with specialists, maintaining medical records, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and licensure to practice in the state where the facility is located.
• At least two years of direct work experience as a physician.
• Current DEA and DPS registrations.
• U.S.-based residency completed.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat detainees/inmates within clinical practice guidelines.
• Provide medical treatment and order studies, tests and services as required.
• Prescribe medications and manage ongoing cases with specialist consultation as needed.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with health information privacy laws.
• Collaborate with hospital teams and nursing/administrative staff.
