Job summary

The State of North Carolina seeks a Correctional Lieutenant II (S) at Warren Correctional Institution to supervise medium custody operations and coordinate staff assignments. Responsibilities include shift supervision, OIC duties, and ensuring safety, discipline, and offender welfare.

Reporting to a Captain II, the role involves coordinating leave, scheduling, and investigations, and participating in classification decisions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus 2.5 years as a Correctional Sergeant, or 2 years as Sergeant II.
• Eligibility for CJ Standards Commission certification.
• PREA compliance and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first line supervisor of Correctional Sergeant II’s.
• Act as Officer in Charge (OIC) in the absence of the Correctional Captain II.
• Coordinate leave requests, employment applications, monthly reports, and offender concerns.
• Inspect housing units, buildings, grounds, and posts for alertness and discipline.
• Review investigations regarding security issues, incidents and complaints.
• Assist in assessing and implementing employee discipline.
• Serve on the offender classification committee and act as incident commander when needed.
