Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Sergeant II (S) at Pamlico Correctional Institution. You will supervise Correctional Officer II staff in a medium custody facility, ensure shift coverage, and uphold custody, security and welfare of offenders.

This role may serve as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and reports to a Correctional Lieutenant II or Housing Unit Manager; candidates must meet CJ Standards and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• First-line supervision of Correctional Officer II staff.
• Oversee post assignments and shift coverage.
• Must be eligible for certification by the NC CJ Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Correctional Officer II staff in a medium custody facility.
• Arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage and post security.
• Ensure custody, security and welfare of offenders are maintained.
• May serve as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and report to a Lieutenant II or Housing Unit Manager.
