Job summary

The NC Dept. of Adult Correction is recruiting for a Corrections Sergeant II at Warren Correctional Institution.

The role centers on planning, supervision, and coordination of activities within a medium custody male facility, with primary custodial duties and serving as shift supervisor. You will lead first-line supervision of Sergeants, act as Officer in Charge in the captain’s absence, manage schedules, disciplinary actions, and ensure safety and order.

Qualifications

• Documented report-writing experience.
• Knowledge of prison policies/procedures or facility operations.
• GED or high school diploma; 2.5 years as a Correctional Sergeant or 2 years as Correctional Sergeant II.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first-line supervisor of Correctional Sergeant II’s.
• Act as Officer in Charge (OIC) in the absence of the Correctional Captain II.
• Assist with personnel actions, schedules, and disciplinary activities.
• Coordinate leave requests, job applications, reports, and offender concerns.
• Inspect housing units, grounds, and posts to ensure discipline and proper assignments.
• Review investigations on security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing employee discipline.
• Serve on the offender classification committee.
• Act as incident commander with authority to use impact munition.
• Prepare records and reports.
