Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a technically fluent, high-impact Product Owner to lead product ownership for Core Services platform—the engine powering all enterprise offerings across Bank, Borrow, Invest, and Plan. This role blends back-end systems, APIs, data flows, and engineering trade-offs, acting as the bridge between engineering and business to deliver measurable outcomes.

You will partner with Engineering, Architecture, QA, and Business to drive backlog clarity, release planning, and governance,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years as Product Owner/Product Manager with backend/platform ownership.
Strong knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices.
Ability to read API specs, ERDs, and architecture diagrams.
Ability to write detailed, engineer-ready user stories and acceptance criteria.
Experience managing cross-system dependencies and engineering priorities.
Experienced in Agile/Scrum with senior engineers and QA.
Experience in regulated banking/fintech environments.

Responsibilities

Own backlog for Core Services including Identity, Rules Manager, Document Service, Notifications, and core banking APIs.
Write engineer-ready epics and user stories for backend systems.
Drive prioritization considering technical debt, risk, and business value.
Collaborate with SDMs, Architects to ensure scalable solutions.
Maintain backlog readiness, acceptance criteria, and definition of done.
Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning.
Monitor production incidents and translate metrics into priorities.
