Axos Bank seeks a technically fluent Product Owner to lead Core Services platform ownership—the engine powering Bank, Borrow, Invest, and Plan. This is not a traditional UI-focused PO role; it requires deep comfort with backend systems, APIs, data flows, and engineering trade-offs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a Product Owner / Product Manager with backend or platform engineering ownership.
• Strong working knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven design.
• Ability to read/interpret technical docs, API specs, ERDs, diagrams.
• Proven ability to write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for backend systems.
• Experience managing complex cross-system dependencies and agile environments.
• Experience in regulated banking/fintech environments is preferred.
• Excellent communication bridging technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the backlog for Core Services platforms including Identity, Rules Manager, Document Service, Notifications, and core banking APIs.
• Write precise, engineer-ready epics, features, and user stories after deep-dive into architecture and data schemas.
• Drive prioritization based on debt, risk, regulatory impact and business value.
• Collaborate with Engineering leadership to evaluate feasibility and ensure scalable solutions.
• Act as the single point of accountability for backlog clarity, readiness, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning with delivery teams.
• Monitor production health data and translate into backlog priorities.
• Provide executive-ready roadmaps and delivery outcomes.
