Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a technically fluent Product Owner to lead ownership of Axos Bank's Core Services platform—the engine powering Bank, Borrow, Invest, and Plan. This role emphasizes deep comfort with backend systems, APIs, data flows, and engineering trade-offs.

You will bridge engineering and business, translating technical realities into prioritized backlogs and working with Engineering, Architecture, QA and Business to drive measurable outcomes for mission-critical financial services

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years as Product Owner/Product Manager with backend/platform experience.
• Strong knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices architecture.
• Ability to write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for backend systems.
• Experience in regulated or financial services environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own backlog for Core Services platforms including Identity, Rules Manager, Document Service, Notifications, and core banking APIs.
• Write engineer-ready epics, features, and user stories by analyzing architecture, data schemas, and contracts.
• Prioritize work based on technical debt, system risk, regulatory impact, and business value.
• Collaborate with Engineering leadership to ensure feasible, scalable solutions and clear acceptance criteria.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming and release planning with delivery teams.
• Ensure release governance and SLA alignment before shipping.
