Harold Washington College seeks a full-time Coordinator, Student Experience to support and implement student experience programs. You will work with college staff to promote belonging, engagement, and equity while coordinating orientation, workshops, and campus events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Student Affairs, Social Sciences, Business or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in student services or a related field in a higher education setting.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events, programs, or workshops.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel between campus and satellite locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in coordinating and executing college-wide programs for students, including orientation and welcome events.
  • Collaborates with college leadership and staff to support partnerships across departments.
  • Supports planning and execution of major events like new student convocations and open houses.
  • Coordinates events and activities connecting students to campus, including clubs and academic support services.
  • Assists with tracking student participation and analyzing enrollment and retention data.
  • Helps develop student-facing materials and outreach strategies with Marketing.
  • Assists with evaluating student experience initiatives and applying best practices.
  • Maintains and prepares internal reports for program improvement.
  • Participates in work teams to identify student needs and service gaps.
  • Helps create opportunities for academic and social engagement during the academic year.
  • Serves as a resource linking students to campus services, especially in their first year.

COORDINATOR - STUDENT EXPERIENCE
HAROLD WASHINGTION COLLEGE

Harold Washington College is seeking a full-time Student ExperienceCoordinator. Reporting to an assigned college administrator, theCoordinator, Student Experience supports the implementation andexecution of the colleges student experience programs. TheCoordinator works collaboratively with college and districtstakeholders to enhance programs and services that support theacademic and social transition of students. This position isinstrumental in fostering a sense of belonging, promoting studentengagement, and advancing efforts aimed at improving retention,success, and equity outcomes for new students. Performs relatedduties as required. Some evening and weekend work isrequired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assists in coordinating and executing college-wide programs forstudents, including orientation, success workshops, academicalerts, welcome events, and other activities that foster a sense ofbelonging.
  • Collaborates with college leadership and staff to supportworking partnerships across departments as well as with faculty toensure seamless integration of student support efforts.
  • Supports the planning, organization, and execution of majorevents such as new student convocations, welcome days, and openhouses and other activities.
  • Coordinates events and activities that connect students to thecampus community, including co-curricular programs, studentorganizations, and academic support services.
  • Supports the tracking and reporting of student participation inprograms and assists with analyzing data on enrollment, engagement,and retention.
  • Assists in making presentations at various events to promoteand market student experience programs and services. Works with themarketing department to assist in developing student-facingmaterials and outreach strategies.
  • Assists with the evaluation of student experience initiatives,researching and applying promising practices to continuouslyenhance student support efforts.
  • Supports the compiling, organizing, and maintenance of programand student data and assists in preparing internal reports forprogram improvement and decision-making.
  • Participates in work teams focused on identifying studentneeds, service gaps, and strategies to improve the studentexperience.
  • Helps develop opportunities for academic and social engagementthat foster a sense of belonging among students during their wholeacademic cycle.
  • Serves as a resource to students by connecting them toavailable college services and providing ongoing support duringtheir first year.
  • Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university inEducation, Student Affairs, Social Sciences, Business or relatedfield required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in student services or arelated field in a higher education setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered at managements discretion.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events, programs, orworkshops.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practicespreferred
  • Knowledge of first-year student program best practices as wellas principles and theories that strengthen resiliency factors forfirst-year students preferred.
  • Knowledge of academic support structures relating to studentretention and success preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communicationskills.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends asneeded.
  • Ability to travel between campus and satellite locations asneeded.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

The salary range for this position is $ $61,006 -$67,106.60.

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.

This position is represented by Local 1600 union.
