DEAN - CAREER AND CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Harry S Truman is seeking a Dean of Career and Continuing EducationPrograms. This position typically plans, implements, directs, andmanages the strategic goals and objectives of Career and ContinuingEducation programs. These programs may include Career &Technical Education (CTE), Vocational Education, WorkforceDevelopment and other school-to-work programs.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the department and its overall operations throughdirect supervision of key staff and provides necessary guidance ofstaff to ensure proper operation of programs.
- Regularly evaluates part-time and full-time faculty and staffrelated to the programs. Plans and conducts staff meetings andtraining activities for division staff to keep them informed and to improve program operations.
- Plans and develops implementation of a comprehensive ContinuingEducation program. Responsibilities include recruiting, evaluatingtraining specialists, recommending personnel for employment andsupervising staff.
- Responsible for Career and Continuing Education Programs budgetpreparations and accountability. Develops and monitors annualdepartment budgets based on history of expenditures, predictedenrollment and revenue, and current allocations. Seeks additionalrevenue by developing grants/proposals to local, state and federalagencies. Directs and coordinates the preparation andadministration of same.
- Writes proposals for federal, state and private funding andsupervises the scheduling of all Continuing Education courses andother activities. Manages state grants for CTE. Ensures that grantmandates are adhered to, ensures that reports are submitted incompliance with grantor requirements, and monitors the grantbudgets to ensure no overspending.
- Works with the college to plan and execute the overallphilosophy and goals of Continuing Education. Develops new courses,workshops and certificate programs for Continuing Education basedon enrollment data analysis, market trends and communityassessment.
- Ensures that students have access to course and career adviceand job placement opportunities.
- Provides leadership in assessing business needs for new programinitiatives and curriculum development. Establishes and maintainscontacts with the private sector for the College's occupationalprograms.
- Reviews and analyzes enrollment data, communicates results andplans strategies for continued success. Prepares detailed writtenreports for administrative use. Uses computer software to preparememoranda and spreadsheet reports detailing activities andstatistics.
- Serves as weekend and/or evening administrator for the Collegeand liaison between the college and outside entities.
- Represents the college at the District Office as it relates tothe delivery of Career and Continuing Education services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution andthirty (30) graduate hours in a related field required. Doctoratepreferred.
- Experience teaching in a higher education setting.
- Active participation or exposure to higher educationaccreditation procedures, articulation processes and programreview.
- Experience in activities that focus on assessment of studentlearning.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism inone’s work experience.
- Experience preferred working within a unionized setting.
- Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment thatfosters student success.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integratedenvironment that fosters innovation within a learningorganization.
- Experience in grant management such as Perkins, WorkforceInvestment Act (WIA), and other grant funds.
- Knowledge and experience in program review and evaluation(ICCB).
The starting salary for this position is between $110,000.00 and$120,000.00.
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education,knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such asinternal equity.
