Malcolm X College is seeking a Career Services Advisor in the Institutional Effectiveness Department. The role focuses on managing job placement services for College to Careers Cluster students and graduates to support recruitment, retention, and employment outcomes.

The candidate will set annual objectives from market trends, maintain employer relationships, and develop career resources and events. Evening/weekend availability and Chicago residency are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, Human Resources, Business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Five years of experience in student or career services in higher education or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Manage job placement services for College to Careers Cluster students and graduates.
  • Establish annual objectives based on market trends and results.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and data on placement outcomes.

Malcolm X College is seeking a Career Service Advisor forthe Institutional Effectiveness Department.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the ExecutiveDirector-Career & Workforce Development, the Career ServiceAdvisor Manages job placement services for College to CareersCluster students and graduates for the purpose of studentrecruitment, retention, and employment placement assistance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensures that students and graduates receive aid in seekingemployment and advises program participants regarding careeropportunities and prospective employment.
  2. Establishes annual objectives based on market trends and recentresults.
  3. Ensures that all College to Careers Cluster programparticipants and graduates receive aid in seeking employment andadvises program participants regarding career opportunities andprospective employment. Establishes annual objectives based onmarket trends and recent results.
  4. Accountable for C2C related metrics including employment asassigned by CCC administration.
  5. Contacts employers to develop job leads and careeropportunities for College to Careers Cluster program participants.Arranges for employers to visit College to Careers Cluster facilityto discuss personnel needs and interview graduating students.Maintains current job listings on file. Provides information toemployer regarding current, former and graduating students.
  6. Develops and maintains key metrics and data regarding placementof graduating students. Maintains files of placement credentials ofCollege to Careers Cluster students. Establishes records ofstudents, alumni referrals and referral results. Establishesmechanism for assessing employer satisfaction with the quality ofgraduates as part of the interviewing process or initial evaluationof early on the job performance. Is sensitive to confidentialitybetween the employer and the employee/graduate.
  7. Develops a career library for students, faculty and staff foruse as a resource in placement activities. Coordinates annualcareer fairs; assists in new student orientation and provides inputfor the school newsletter.
  8. Develops and conducts training programs related to careerdevelopment, resume/letter construction, interviewing techniquesand effective job search techniques. Develops a program involvingemployer presentations, field visits and student internships.
  9. Prepares reports and key assessment data regarding results andoutcomes. Compares outcomes over time and by program. Establishesand maintains tracking and reporting processes.
  10. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, Human Resources,Business, or a related field from an accredited college oruniversity. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience instudent or career services within higher education, or anequivalent combination of education and experience isrequired.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with previousexperience in training and development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with theability to present information clearly and effectively to diverseaudiences.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectivelyacross departments.
  • Highly self-motivated and innovative, with the ability toassess current operations and implement improvements to achievelong-term goals of the District.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook).
Special Requirements:
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends. In and out ofDistrict travel may be required.
Salary Range: $69,545.00 - 75,712.00

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.
